Hundreds of years ago, the Founders built the Teakettle, a massive supercomputer, to oversee the running of Genetopia. This system has worked flawlessly for all that time, allowing Genetopia to keep its position of supremacy over the other nations through genetic enhancement.
But this veneer of perfection is only that: a veneer. Dylan Kinsley, one of the best programmers the world has ever produced, finds disturbing information that suggests that the Teakettle has been doing more than overseeing. No hard data for the Senators can be found, and in the classified databanks Dylan finds termination orders.
Now Dylan, along with his closest friends Kendran, a man with the hide and strength of a rhino, and Seraphina, a woman made angelic not only by her manner and beauty, but also by the snow white wings she bears, must find a way to shut down the largest supercomputer in the world, in a country where every citizen has been genetically altered to avoid questioning authority. Can they uncover the mystery in time? Or will their society be forever doomed to ignorance?

A few things I need to say here. One, Genetopia is definitely steampunk. Two, its new working title is ‘Rise of the Teakettle’. I’ll explain later.
Three, Rise of the Teakettle is definitely what I’ll be working on. Four, I’ve already started writing a few scenes.
Five, the Love and the Ally need names. The Ally is an anthro rhino. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I think this story wants to be made steampunk. I’m having visions of all this super-advanced technology being made even more awesome by the effect of steam. Opinions?
I also need a new name for it, since Genetopia is taken. Suggestions?
Not that that’s a long time, but I’m super excited anyway. An actual, published author commented on my blog!
Granted, it was only because he wrote a story called ‘Genetopia’ a few years ago, but still! He was here! Go check him out!
So I don’t yet know if this is what I’ll end up writing, but I had more ideas for it. In the PowerPoint, I showed the generations of enhanced humans, D1, D2, and D3. I’ve now decided there is also a D4 classification.
D4 is not a generational thing. A D3 can choose to receive non-human DNA to further enhance his or her self. You could have the eyes of a hawk, for example, or the ears of a fox. Or wings. Any non-human DNA classifies you as a D4, and this DNA does not pass to your children.
I also have a good story idea worked out, though I think I’ll keep it under wraps since it’s something of a thriller. If you haven’t already, go back to the last post and vote in the poll.
Now that the contest is over, I can write other things. I’m going to do a book review before I do anything else, but after that I can do whatever I want.
The majority vote on my poll was for me to keep editing Uprising in an attempt to get it published, but I think I’m going to leave Uprising alone until the results of the contest are announced, which should be in November.
Now, the votes were tied between a medieval/steampunk mixture story and Lezvie/Angela stories, and I’ve also become re-interested in this idea I had a long time ago but never did anything with.
Genetopian Presentation This is the reason I’m re-interested in it. I started working on the story world for a ‘make your own country’ project for US Govt. It’s a PowerPoint, so download and look at it.
Watched it yet? No? Go. Shoo.
You’re back? Okay, now vote in this poll:
Waiting on your opinons, wyrms!
